We congratulate our CASP champions, Carlos Venturo and Javier Ruiz, students who work at COSAPI and the Universidad Científica del Sur (UCSUR) respectively, for winning the double gold medal and the single bronze medal for Peru in their categories in the Pan American Tennis Special Olympics in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. We also congratulate our professor and trainer, Jesús Palma, for the success and his extraordinary teamwork.

This tournament, organized by the Special Olympics, took place on the Club Tenis Santa Cruz courts from August 12 to August 17 under the motto of integration, demonstrating that the practice of sports has no limits. A hundred players participated, representing 14 countries: Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, The Dominican Republic, Uruguay, USA and Venezuela.

The IV Pan American Tennis Special Olympics Tournament took place as part of the Project for the development of Tennis in Special Olympics Latin America, COSAT and COTECC. The project, begun in 2006 and dubbed “Tenis Somos Todos” took place in Bolivia with the great support of the Departmental Government and of businesses that shared the objective of using the sport as a means of social development for people with intellectual disabilities and for the community in general.
