New York, NY – On September 19, 2019 over 140 international
guests gathered at the Residence of the Ambassador of Peru to the United
Nations in celebration of the 40th anniversary of CASP.
Guests enjoyed a night of
Peruvian music, cuisine, culture, a raffle, conversation and Pisco drinks. Attendees
ranged from CASP supporters, behavioral practitioners, parents of children with different abilities and a
large gathering of Peruvians.
Dr. Liliana Mayo, Ph.D. Founder and Executive Director of
CASP spoke at the event, sharing the inspirational work of CASP. She also
expressed her appreciation of the outpouring of support and enthusiasm for
CASP.
“I’m grateful to all of our guests who attended the fundraiser, whether
this was the first time they heard about the center or were long-standing
advocates of our organization. With
additional support, we hope to expand opportunities to help more people with
different abilities and their families throughout Lima and worldwide."
Ms. Sonia Balcazar de Meza Cuadra, wife to the Peruvian
Ambassador to the UN and host for the event, and Dr. Maria del Pilar Trelles
Thorne, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Seaver
Autism Center for Research and Treatment at Mount Sinai Hospital and event
organizer kicked of the event Dr. Trelles noted,
“I am passionate about the
profound impact that CASP has on individuals, families and professionals around
the world. We wanted to organize this event to help raise funds—and
awareness—for the Center, and share CASP’s 40 years of accomplishments, that
can only bring us incredible pride as Peruvians. I am thrilled that so many
guests could attend, contribute and help celebrate with us.”
